Material manufacturing to the highest demands
As the largest intergrated quartz glass producer Heraeus Quarzglas operates different processes for the fabrication of diverse quartz glass varieties. The combination of the different fusion methods with our ability to purify raw materials allows producing quartz glasses with specific properties tailored to the customers’ needs. This flexibility comes in addition to the broad product portfolio offered by Heraeus Quarzglas.
Engineers and scientists from different divisions work in close contact to each other. Hence, our quartz glass knowledge is continuously expanded and synergies emerge for new product developments.
Material machining
Heraeus uses many processes in order to manufacture fused quartz products such as ingots, plates, tubes and rods. These include:
- annealing of quartz glass products to remove OH groups and reduce stress fields
- machining, such as cutting tubes to different lengths
- hot processing, such as closing of tube ends, vitrification of tubes and forming of quartz glass bodies
